Dark MAGA Cyberpunk Twenty (2024)

7' x 6'

Dark MAGA Cyberpunk captures the cultural flashpoint surrounding Donald Trump’s indictment in Georgia on August 14, 2023. Prompted by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s investigation into election interference, the moment quickly transcended legal proceedings to become a viral spectacle, crystallized by the now-infamous mugshot. This painting reflects the MAGA movement’s response as icon-making.

At the center stands Trump reimagined as a colossal, bloodied Hulk—a mythic avatar of defiance. The blood on his face is prophetic, a symbol of the legal and political warfare that followed. Rendered through a cyberpunk lens, he embodies the grotesque heroism of a digital age where narrative eclipses reality.

Framing him are repeated images of Nelson from The Simpsons, each version altered with glasses, facial hair, and T-shirts reading “USA” and “Trump Forever.” Nelson’s familiar smirk and pointed gesture are repurposed as both mockery and allegiance, symbolizing the internet’s chaotic, meme-driven political chorus.

With flame motifs, digital chain patterns, and the phrase “Make America Great Again” spanning the canvas, the work conjures a dystopian tableau where institutions falter and ideology becomes aesthetics. Dark MAGA Cyberpunk marks a moment when politics, propaganda, and pop culture collapsed into one mutable, weaponized image.
